Our Story
The Beginning of the Story……
On July 30, 1978, Formosan Christian Church of Dallas was founded in what felt like a miraculous journey! It all began with Brother Tuo-Hsi Chang, a Taiwanese student studying geophysics at UT Dallas. During a field trip to the California coast, he and two fellow Taiwanese students were swept into the ocean by a huge wave, and only Tuo-Hsi survived. He felt this was God’s special grace and, with his wife, Rae-Mei Pan, began planning to establish a church in Dallas.
The first gathering occurred in a borrowed classroom at Highland Park United Methodist Church, with 24 adults and 20 children attending, though only three families were Christians! They were blessed to find their first pastor, Rev. Ji Yuan-Xun, within two months. Thanks to God’s guidance and the support of Pastor Rui-Xiong Chang, the church moved five times in its first eight years, before finally purchasing land in Garland in 1982, where it began to grow steadily......

1993 Rev. Chang Ke-Fu begins ministry
1994 07 Yuan Huang-Yen Mission Fund established
1995 01 Rev. Daniel Chiang joins as pastor
1995 07 Caring Fund established
1996 06 First English pastor, Rev. Douglas Lew, hired
2000 09 Rev. Douglas Lew resigns
2001 11 Rev. Hendwra Chousand becomes
English pastor
2003 Spring Expansion of classrooms in the original
church completed
2007 12 Moved to the current location in Plano
2011 01 Pastor Susan Su hired for youth counselor
2011 06 Building Committee established
2013 Pastor Susan Su resigns
2013 12 Rev. Hendwra Chousand resigns
2014 06 Pastor Paul Yu hired for youth ministry
2015 05 Rev. Jonathan Hsieh hired for English
ministry
2018 05 Pastor Paul Yu resigns
2018 8/5 40th Anniversary Celebration
2018 09 Rev. Hendwra Chousand hired as a part-time
assistant pastor for children’s ministry
2019 03 Rev. Jonathan Hsieh resigns
2019 10/6 New Sanctuary Ground Breaking
2022 11/6 New Sanctuary Dedication and the First Taiwanese Fair
